Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse issued the following announcement on April 19.
April 17–23 is National Volunteer Week, making it a good opportunity to recognize the volunteers who perform countless valuable services within the community.
In 2021, 144 volunteers served more than 13,000 hours at locations across Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Wisconsin, saving over $350,000, according to Peter Grabow, director of Volunteer Services for Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Wisconsin.
"Our volunteers personify the primary Mayo Clinic value “The needs of the patient come first,” says Grabow. "The volunteers are caring, helpful ambassadors who create a welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff."
Volunteer Services is recruiting volunteers in several areas across Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Wisconsin, including these:
Cancer Center
Clinic lobby host
Dependable and Resourceful Transport (DART)
Desk 2A attendant
Endoscopy attendant
Hospice
Physical Therapy (students only)
Safe Path
Second floor wayfinding attendant
"We welcome a wide age range of volunteers, from students who are passionate about helping others to seniors who have a wealth of experience to share," adds Grabow. "Each volunteer makes unique, invaluable contributions to the experiences of our patients and staff through their service."
Volunteers need to be at least 14 years of age. All ability levels are welcome. Those interested can learn more and sign up to volunteer.
Volunteers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Wisconsin have been invited to a special gathering on Thursday, April 21. They will receive a gift bag with goodies from local businesses and be recognized by Mayo Clinic Health System leaders.
"We are so grateful for the wonderful service our volunteers provide, and we recognize that service during National Volunteer Week and all year around," Grabow says.
